Planting for Skagit Valley's Best generally begins in mid-to-late April and continues through mid-May.

Hilling potatoes is an important process as it gives the tubers more space to grow and sets the stage for harvest.

The potato variety dictates the color of the flower which for red potatoes can be dark pink to lavender.  Yellow potatoes have white flowers.

Once potatoes have flowered and reached marketable size the foliage is removed and skins begin to set.  We will harvest after skin set, +/- 30 days.

Piling our storage potatoes starts in late-September and by mid-October all our potatoes are in the barn.
